MADAME CHATELET

and her Instagram Followers

The Institute of Material Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) offers a dramatized reading, created, written and performed by personnel of the center, which tells the story of women scientists from different periods

Marie Sklodowska Curie is undoubtedly the most recognized female scientist in the history of chemistry, of science in general and possibly the only one known to many people. However, there have been many cases of women with an extraordinary talent but who had been eclipsed by the men around them. In this dramatized reading, Émilie du Châtelet, scientific "salonnière" of the eighteenth century, will receive his scientific colleagues.

By her salon will pass diverse wise women belonging to different times: Hipàtia d’Alexandria, Trota de Salerno, Beatriu de Pinós, Sibylla Merian, Ada Lovelace, Nettie Stevens, Rosalind Franklin, Vera Rubin, among others. This reading was performed for the first time during the acts of the “International Day of women and girls in science” made during February 2017 at different schools, and also at ICMAB.
